From the Principal

IES Skellefteå is growing in many ways and I am pleased to let you know that this week we will have our first international students.

IES Skellefteå International School is a private school that will offer the first three stages of the Cambridge International curriculum: Cambridge Primary (age 5-11), Cambridge Lower Secondary (age 11-14) and Cambridge Upper Secondary (age 14-16). Upper secondary students will graduate from the school after taking the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) exams. All teaching will be provided in English.

The international school will offer a programme which differs from the Swedish curriculum and therefore IES Skellefteå International School is for students who:

  • are resident in Sweden for a limited time
  • went to school abroad for an extended period and want to finish their education in Sweden
  • will move away from Sweden for a longer time
  • have English as a daily contact language, where one or both guardians have English as their mother-tongue

According to the Swedish National Agency for Education's (Skolverket’s) rules for international schools in Sweden, only students who meet one or more of these criteria are allowed to follow the international curriculum.

To attend IES International School the student must pay an annual tuition fee. If you want to know more about this part of the school, please contact us on info.skelleftea@engelska.se
